The American National Standards Institute is a coordinating organization for voluntary standards in the United States. The ANSI working committees most closely aligned with storage networking interests are called X3T10 (principally responsible for SCSI I/O interface standards), and X3T11 (principally responsible for Fibre Channel interface standards).

The Storage Performance Council (SPC) is a non-profit corporation founded to define, standardize, and promote storage subsystem benchmarks as well as to disseminate objective, verifiable performance data to the computer industry and its customers.
